Fall 2009
Distance Education Registration Process

Step 1. (Prior to registration)

A. Complete, sign and date an RCC application.

  • Include your email address on the application.
  • Indicate that you are a SPECIAL or VISITING student, under "Student Status: Education Goal" on the RCC application
  • Fax the application to #336-629-9547; OR to obtain an application from RCC's main website, click on the following link and follow the instructions: Application and Instructions.

B. Send an email to rccreg@randolph.edu, indicating your interest in taking distance education classes and include the following:

  • Your full name
  • The last 4-digits of your social security number or RCC student ID#
  • Specify the courses you would like to take
  • Provide a phone # and email address where you can be reached on registration day
  • Please indicate that you have read the visiting student instructions on the Virtual Campus Website.

C. If you are planning to register for a course that requires a prerequisite (this could be a course or a placement test score), RCC must receive a copy of your official transcripts (in a sealed envelope) before you will be allowed to register. You may bring the sealed envelope into RCC's registrar's office or you may have it mailed to:

  • Either way, the ENVELOPE MUST BE SEALED BY YOUR PREVIOUS COLLEGE/HIGH SCHOOL, etc.
  • Applications and/or prerequisite documents received on the day of registration or during late registration will be processed as time permits, with no guarantee of response by the close of registration.

    Step 2.

    A. After the above steps are completed and prior to registration day, you will receive an email describing how to register online through WEBADVISOR. You will be allowed to register only on the following registration days:

  • Early registration for Fall 2009 semester for currently enrolled students (NO CURRICULUM CLASSES):
    July 14, 2009.

  • New Student advising and registration by invitation only:
    July 27, 2009 - July 31, 2009 (Mon-Thu: 9:00 a.m. - 6:30 & Fri: 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.).

  • New Student advising and registration by invitation only:
    August 3, 2009 - August 7, 2009 (Mon-Thu: 9:00 a.m. - 6:30 & Fri:12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.).

  • Regular registration for new or currently enrolled students:
    August 11, 2009 - August 12, 2009 (9:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.) .

  • Late registration for new or currently enrolled students:
    August 17, 2009 & August 18, 2009 (9:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.).

  • Registration is the same time for everyone, so there is no guarantee you will be enrolled for the course(s) you select.

    B. A receipt of your payment will be mailed only upon request by contacting the Business Office by email at cashier@randolph.edu

    Step 3.

    After your tuition fees are paid, you may purchase your books online by going to CampusCruiser and clicking on the "Buy You Books Online" link located under the "Around Campus" menu on the left side of the web page. To make arrangements to purchase textbooks by phone, call (336) 633-0236 and tell the staff you need to order books for your online class. Be prepared to tell them your course number and section. A street address is needed for shipping. There is a minimum shipping and handling fee of $8.00. Sales Tax will be added also.

    Please note that (tba) is the first day that textbooks will be available for purchase for the Fall 2009 semester. Any books bought after the last day of return (check with bookstore) are not returnable. Thank you for letting our Campus Store assist you with your textbook needs.

    Step 4.

    In addition to registration and payment, students taking Distance Education courses at Randolph for the first time, must create an account on the Virtual Campus (Create Account). As part of the account creation process, students will be automatically be directed to take an On-Line Learning Tutorial. This tutorial is REQUIRED for new distance education students and will take around 10-20 minutes to complete. Completion of this tutorial and the registration process (above) are required before you will be given access to your course(s). Class access is not available until after 12:00 noon on the first official day of the semester (August 17, 2009)

    Step 5.

    Some Distance Education Courses have mandatory on-campus meetings (course sections than end in 50, 51, 60, 61, 62, and 69,). The schedules for these workshops and other course information are posted on the Virtual Campus site (Fall 2009 Schedule). Make sure you review all information available for your course(s). Instructor e-mail addresses are available on the course schedule page and can be accessed by simply clicking on the instructor's name for each course
