or in-depth knowledge about the subject?
- Is your knowledge
of the subject current and up-to-date?
How strong are your reading skills?
- How
well do you read textbooks and journal articles at the college level?
- Do you understand
the main concepts and ideas being presented?
- Can you read
information critically?
How strong are your writing skills?
- How
well do you write on a college level?
- Are you comfortable
writing short papers, proposals, summaries, etc.?
- Can you research
and write a paper with references?
How strong are your study skills?
- Are
you able to prepare for tests without constant assistance from an instructor?
- Can you schedule
dedicated times for study and stick with those times?
Can you manage your time?
- Can
you successfully complete your distance education course while balancing other
responsibilities such as your family, your job, and your social obligations?
- Do you have
a dedicated place to study at home? at work?
- Can you alter
your schedule to accommodate study?
Do you have adequate resources?
- Do
you have access to print and electronic materials to enhance course texts
and materials?
- Do you have
access to appropriate equipment to review materials, such as a VCR, a computer,
etc.?
- Do you know
people who will provide you with assistance with your course material, such
as a family member, friend, or coworker?
- Do you have
convenient access to a library or other organizations which provide resource
materials?
Do you have a support network?
- Will
you receive encouragement from your family and friends while you learn at
a distance?
- Have family
members or friends agreed to take responsibility for certain things to increase
your opportunity for study?
- Will your family and friends allow you to have time for
uninterrupted study?
